ROYCROFT Slant Front Desk ORIGINAL & RARE Arts & Crafts
Signed Original Finish SOLID OAK NO/RESERVE
ESW presents, from a fine San Diego estate, this
unmolested and original Roycroft slant front desk. This desk, along with a Roycroft Ali Baba bench (see my other auctions) was discovered after sitting 50 years plus in the dining room of the a California home. Totally original including original hammered copper pulls. Measures 37" wide, 19" deep at drawer, 11 3/4" deep at top, 44" tall. The desk is structurally solid as a rock. The drawer opens smoothly with one hand, hinges and supports are original and tight. The finish on top of desk has some lighter , blemishes, but does not have any dark water stains, burns. One very small gauge to the top (shown). Solid oak with no splits in the wood. The finish is very nice with the correct and desirable patina for a 100 year old desk. The front of the desk has a small area of very minor white paint splatter as seen in the picture (should be easy to remove). Other than light dusting, we have not touched up the desk in any way.
