More great wireless auctions coming your way this week.

Here's a Tuska 224 regenerative receiver, being offered with both of its original (and super scarce) instruction cards, a working pair of collectible, early and very sensitive Western Electric 509W headphones, a good brass base 99 tube and 01A adapter, and a good globe 01A tube.

As you can see the photographs, the condition of this radio is outstanding throughout.  Save for a few minor marks on the top of the cabinet, the radio looks almost like new, with a beautiful chip free, crack free and unwarped bakelite panel, original lettering that's still and crisp and close to 100%, tuner wire that's still bright green, all of its original panel screws and binding post nuts, dials and knobs that are essentially perfect, metal parts that are free of any hint of rust or corrosion -- just overall a beautiful example of this radio.

As noted above, this is a working radio.  You'll need a good regulated DC power supply, a longwire outdoor antenna, some knowledge of the fundamentals of regenerative radio operation, and plenty of patience to get the most out of this set.  Tuning is highly sensitive and highly selective, but also finicky and quirky, if not downright cranky at times, and even minor adjustments to the dials and knobs result in major changes in reception.  The challenge is compounded by the fact that the common ground is established with a flat sheet of steel against which are pressed grounding clips held in place by tension only.  That said, if you're patient and know your way around a 20's battery radio, you'll be rewarded in spades, as this is one of the most sensitive battery radios I've ever powered up.  Picks up plenty of local and distant stations during the day, and at night, you can tune in one station after another as you rotate the condenser.

The radio comes with a brass base 99 tube and adapter for use with household batteries and a globe 01A for use with a DC power supply.  I mentioned the unwarped condition of the panel earlier in the description because if you're familiar with the 224, you know it's not often that you find an example whose panel hasn't bowed into a "U," the result of the bakelite formula that was used in the manufacturing process and the fact that there are no screws along the lower edge of the panel, thus allowing the panel to bow inward over time.  But perhaps the most pleasing aspect of this set are the original instruction cards.  They were printed on heavy stock acid-laden paper and are hardly ever found intact.  There are missing chips on both cards, as you can see, but what remains is fairly sturdy, and the chipped paper does not impinge on either the text or the diagrams.

That's about it.  I will double-box everything and pack it properly to ensure its safe arrival.  Paypal okay.
