This auction is for an antique or vintage early 1940's Weston bakelite tube radio.Weston was a well known name producing a lot of the testing equipment made to diagnose and troubleshoot tube radios in it's golden years when radio was indeed, king. While you may often see the Weston name on vintage gauges, testers, and meters, it is very rare that you will run into a Weston brand tube radio as many of their products concentrated soley on the testing aspect of the industry. Presented here for your consideration, is an excellent example of one of the few Weston radios still left.
A small but nicely designed set, it only measures about 8" long X 5" tall.
This is a restored and working radio ready to enjoy. All capacitors have been replaced, all out of tolerance resistors replaced, and all tubes were tested and replaced if found to be weak. A new line cord has also been added to replace the unsafe and crumbling original.
The cabinet is a beautiful chocolate colored bakelite with a wonderful mirror like quality displaying deep but rich swirling and patterning with no breaks or cracks. What you are looking at is the original hand polished bakelite with all of its natural qualities and textures still retained. Unlike other sellers, I do not use sprays, lacquers or oils. Each of my radios are hand polished by me, investing significant time and attention to every detail to bring you a set worth displaying and enjoying for years to come. Knobs are bullet or torpedo style. Each secured with their original set screws while also displaying some of the same deep swirling found in the cabinet. Dial scale is plastic, numbers show no flaking, all easy to read. A sure conversation starter in overall beautiful condition ready to display and enjoy in your home or office.
