A GREAT EXAMPLE of a MID-CENTURY CLASSIC -- a circa 1956 EAMES RAR EIFFEL TOWER BASE ROCKER !!! All original. Vintage, circa 1956, Mid-Century Modern, original Charles Eames for Herman Miller parchment colored molded fiberglass RAR armshell chair / rocker. Shell is relatively early (c. 1956), just post- rope edge. Shock mounts are early examples of the 1 3/4" diameter size. COLOR: Parchment colored with nice pronounced fibers. Base is black steel with birch wood runners. MARKED ON STICKER ON UNDERSIDE: "HERMAN MILLER FURNITURE COMPANY Zeeland Michigan", with the last patent date "2738835". That patent # was for the year 1956 (see image). FACTORY STAMPED IN INK ON UNDERSIDE: "JAN 11 1956" (year is partially covered by HM sticker; see image). SIZE: 27" high; 25" wide; 24" deep; 16" seat height. CONDITION/DESCRIPTION: Excellent condition with expected signs of light use. There is no bleed-through from shock mounts. (About a 9 3/4 on a scale of 0-10). There is one chip to the top of the back of the left runner, and the right runner appears to have come apart/unglued with the grain at the original seam, and been re-glued (nicely) at some point in history (both very minor issues; see both images). All original: metal Eiffel Tower base, rubber shock mounts, screws, and birch runners are all intact and sound (see image of underside). Shell is in great condition, with no cracks or chips or other negatives. Very nice, very comfortable, very presentable and ready for use and display.
