This is a precision balance scale within a wooden and glass box with sliding front panel. There is a drawer underneath which still contains accessories for use of the scale such as assorted metal dishes to be placed on the scales and also weights from 100 - 500 grams. This was made by Ainsworth & Sons of Denver, Colorado. It is indicated to be item No. 16195. and cites two US patents (2,022,306 and 2,111,842), the earlier being issued in 1935. I don't know where this scale was actually used, but there is a sticker indicating that it was serviced by the Niagara Instrument Service in Lewiston, NY. The box measures 18" tall, 10" deep, and 18" across the front. The scale weighs quite a lot, hence the high shipping cost. A neat decorative item or addition to a collection!
