OUTSTANDING OLD COPY VIOLIN Guarneri del Gesu 1742 'Load Williton' Another justly celebrated violin , the 'Load Williton' was ranked among del Gesu's great ,asterpieces by the hills in 1931 and has been in the possession of Yehudi Menuhin, now Load Menuhin, since 1978. It was probably brought from Paris by L oad Wilton towards the end of the nineteenth century, and passed via Hills to a gentleman named Edgar Speyer in London, whose wife was a violinist. It then entered the collection of R.E. Brandt, and later that of Richard Bennett. This collection, which included sixteen Stradivaris and five del Gesus , was radually dispersed after it was sold to W.E. Hill &Sons in the later 1920s.
