This is a stunning bark, just under a metre in length (334 cm. wide), and with rarrk as fine as you would ever see.

The painting clearly contains significant iconography, probably relating to Aboriginal ritual or to Dreamtime myths.

The bark is from the 1970's ( I acquired it from an art worker who was there in that period), and is in excellent condition. There is very fine scarcely visible surface crack for a part of its length. This doesn't impinge on the look of the bark at all, but it does represent an incipient weakness in the bark which would no longer be a potential issue once the painting is mounted. It can easily cope with display as is, of course.
And a very impressive and sophisticated display it makes: the fineness of the all-over cross-hatching gives a subtle texture and shimmer not unlike a late John Mawurndjul bark painting.
