This auction is a Scarce Antique Japanese EIRAKA Porcelain Vase.

The Makers mark on the bottom reads: ei and raku for the Eiraku lineage of potters of Kyoto, Japan. Silver or gold work over a red enamel ground is quite typical for Meiji (1868-1912) period Eiraku pottery.

The Eiraku lineage were important and historically significant potters in Kyoto, Japan, from the 18th Century right through to the present day.

Although it is Japanese, because the written language is the same, in Chinese this mark would read the same as the Ming emperor Yongle (1404-1424).

It measures 6 1/2" tall.

It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, scratches or repairs.

NO RESERVE. Payment by PayPal. .Check out my other items!

Returns only accepted if Postal Insurance is purchased. Returns will only be accepted if there was a gross material error in description. No returns if you just changed your mind, don't like it or think you overbid. We do not pay for nor reimburse for postage and handling fees. All descriptions are to the best of our knowledge and research and are purely our opinion. We do not test cameras, electronics and other items for working ability unless stated. All items are sold in an AS IN condition. Any stipulation as to age or authenticity is purely speculative and judgmental. We are not museum curators and are not expert enough to guarantee such. There have been reproductions so fine they have even fooled the "experts".

Many people get confused with the words Vintage and Antique. Vintage means "of the period" and not necessarily a particular number of years old. You can have a 2007 Vintage wine, for example. In General, the word Antique means 100 years old. Here on eBay some categories of items are considered in the listings to be antique if prior to 1940 in age. And that varies in categories. In the ART category, an antique is pre 1900 while in the collectible category under clocks an antique is pre 1930. This same category lists vintage as 1930-1969 while vintage guitars are pre 1980 and vintage toy soldiers are pre 1970. I can go on and on but my point is there is no set and fast rule on eBay concerning dating, for they themselves vary it. We honest dealers can only give our best estimate and judgment as to the items age, condition and value. I explain in detail what I see and I photograph every angle to show the buyer the item as best possible.
