Vintage small celluloid picture frame Rectangular Ivory Py-ra-lin

This listing is for a small cream colored celluloid picture frame. It is vintage, circa. 1930s. It is rectangular 5" x 6 1/2". The picture opening is 3 1/2" x 5". The opening is at the top between two layers of celluloid. It does not have, nor does it need, glass. It is stamped Ivory  Py-Ra-Lin. The celluoid has striations, is sturdy, no cracks, chips or stains. It has a stick-on hanger.  Frame is in very good vintage pre-owned condition. 

Information on celluloid: Celluloid was first produced in the mid-1800s as an experiment to produce a substance which would be used to replace expensive African ivory in the production of vanity objects. The material was not stable chemically and easily disintergated if it came in contact with substances such as perfume & moth balls or was packed away in closed spaces. Before the turn of the century the designs were embossed Victorian and then gave way by the 1920s to plain smooth celluloid with classic striations. The span of time celluloid was produced was short. It was soon replaced with the sturdier bakelite which in turn gave way to the early plastics. So to find a piece of celluloid in very good condition is rare. The pieces which survived sat for years openly on a dresser. When I was a child my grandmother gave me my first piece of cream colored  embossed Victorian celluloid.
