19TH Century Chinese Bronze Vase Ming Style
This charming, decorative, and functional bronze flower vase dates from the early to mid 19TH century of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), done in the old style of the Ming bronzes with decorative handles, with incised and embossed designs with a floral motif. The two reserve panels show pines and bamboo, both auspicious symbols for longevity, mixed with spring flowers and foliage. A heavy clay casting core remains inside the vase, giving it a weighty, substantial feel. All wear and patina are original, and consistent with a bronze of this age. It will only get more beautiful with time and wear, as it is still entirely functional. A wonderful piece to pass down to the future generations to appreciate, and its value will continue to rise. This piece came to us from an old Hawaiian Estate on Maui, Hawaii in the 1980's. The vase is 7-7/8" tall and 4-1/2" from handle to handle.
