A rare original 1925 Prohibition LIQUOR...WHISKEY Prescription. This prescription was the third of five issued by the government during the Prohibition and was used for a short period of time. It is particularly rare to find this prescription unused and with the attached stub. By law, unused prescriptions were to be returned to the Prohibition Commissioner, and most were returned! This prescription was issued to Dr. J. M. Solomon, of Brattleboro, VT. Typically the physician prescribed Whiskey or Spirits Frumenti aka Whiskey.
The prescription was issued by the Treasury Department, US Internal Revenue, and is printed on fancy, orange paper! The color and graphics are GREAT! In the center is the old Treasury Seal with the Latin inscription, "Thesaur. Amer. Septent. Sigil.", the Rx is watermarked, "PROHIBITION". The prescription measures 9 3/4" x 4 1/4" and is in EXCELLENT condition! Please see photos!
