Introducing

Americas Finest Ornate Trunk-Baggage Maker

CA Taylor full size Flat top Large Tiger Maple Trunk

Established in 1859 or so and still in business today!

Like Vuitton, Fendi and others, that say's it all right there!

High quality work is key to keeping the best in business.

I'd date this fine trunk around 1895 or so.

Hardware is Patent embossed 1888.

As far as USA Trunk Makers go' this is in the top 3 for Collectables.

The Lock is made of solid Copper! Unique to Taylor!

Crouch&Fitzgerald, Taylors and Excelsior oak slat trunks rate highest.

These were very expensive trunks with Taylor Patented Copper lock works

and every piece if metal surrounding the trunk is embossed with the

maker name Taylor. Each Edge is made of 5-6 seperate pieces of cast

placed just so and secured together. These are the most difficult trunks

to refinish as they were covered with hemp roped canvas and it's like

wrestling a couple Polar bears! hahaha

I am asked what I use for a finish alot of times' I use products accessible

only to professionals. No mwax'  or other over the counter gunk here.

I us the good stuff.

Taylors Take 3 times longer to do than other trunks.

These trunks are a special breed as no other had so much work put

into making a trunk stand out over the competition.

It's much more than that. Each lock is stamped Taylors XX Professional

Trunks Chicago, New York and the # this one is # C686

and all were dated and signed.

It has been Professionally refinished by us. The old covering was removed and it was refinished in our shop.

Made in New York and Chicago this was one of Americas two highest quality trunk makers.

There were many makers of trunks but these were the most decorated.

Quality is in the making starting with a double lid stay, Solid Brass working lock and

Solid Tiger Maple woods wraped with oak slats.

This trunk has thick wood' not the normal 1/2 inch stock but 1" stock all the way around.

It is made with Tiger Maple hard wood! Top of the line!

The wood is different' Most all other trunks are made of pine. Not these' Very Nice.

The top is flat Both making it a functional table and elegant. On this beauty I recomend a

glass top of course.

4 sets of double barrel coasters on the bottom to move it around. I put new high quality

leather handles on the trunk. We only use the best.

'notice did not polish the brass' I keep it as it original!

It has a nice clean finish rustic feel.

This trunk was both the finest made and most revered amongst the elite. I'm not going to drop trunk maker names

for comparison purposes with this trunk there is no need too more than I have already.

The cast iron and other metals were left original.

Taylor always matched the hardware adjacent to each. Really spectacular detailing!

There are 4 strong hinge straps on back and she

opens and closes like new. #4 Taylor embossed Draw bolts 'on the lid front are very strong!

The inside was Stripped and sealed with 3 coats of satin sealer.

Done correctly. The oak slats were treated with 3 coats of satin varnish finish as was the exterior

of this fine trunk. It's the correct product. Polyurathane undermines a piece.

All cast iron hinges and clasps are strong and in good working order.

They were serious when it came to putting thier name on something.

Like the finest of travel luggage and trunk makers did and fine trademark companies today do.

We try to take very clear pics of our work so we hope you enjoy them!

Trunks are unique and the chances of another exactly like the one you wanted

may not be seen for a long time. Especially a Taylor Full Size like this..

Have a look at our ME Page Photo Gallery to see Past Works. A Treat.

A thank you in advance as sales are applied toward our daughters education.

I have 20 years experience in the fine finishes field. You're in good hands.

Size 36"W X 26"H"X 24"deep 85 lbs.  for shipping, boxed, padded and insured.

Very reasonable considering the height of this trunk.

May be a surcharge if you live atop a mountain. :-)

We will answer any questions you have asap Just email us
