Antique 19thC Authentic French Gilt Bronze Figural Mantel Clock De Marc Movement

Up for auction is a beautiful French Gilt Bronze Figural Mantel Clock purchased from the sale of the prestigious O'Hara's Gallery.  The clock is cast with a seated french maiden holding a basket of flowers next golden thickets and an enameled dial with Roman numerals.  The clock has a De Marc Paris strike movement.

It is a great piece, and an item that would've once sold for several thousand in O'Hara's gallery.  It is now available for you to own.

The clock measures 16 1/2 inches wide and is 11 1/4 inches tall.  This clock was made by the process of mercury-gilding, a technique that was highly valued and is no longer used, and was done in the rococo style.  This process used real gold to gild the clock.

This clock is in great condition for it's age.  Condition:  The clock has a few scattered stress cracks.  They are all minor and barely noticeable.  The feet are in perfect condition with no damage.  The winding key is missing.  The minute hand needs to be straightened.  A screw that secures the movement to the back of case has come loose.  The movement looks to be intact and in good condition, but we have not tried to get it working - so assume that it needs a professional to look at it.  There is no glass over the dial, but there is not supposed to be as this clock would've originally been under a glass dome.  The porcelain on the dial is in very good shape.  Overall, the clock is a beautiful centerpiece with a great provenance.
