Stamped with post 1945 stamps (oval dotted).
Delivered in an original Georg Jensen gift box.

History:
Johan Rohde's Acanthus silver cutlery from 1917 represents a
Scandinavian interpretation of Antique ideals and is a precursor
to Classicism.

Rohde became inspired by the Antiquity era from his stay in Italy.

The cutlery reflects this inspiration in such details as its column-shaped
handle, which culminates in a Corinthian capital of acanthus leaves.

The ornamentation is masterful, harmoniously becoming a part of the Whole.

Johan Rohde (1856-1935) began his close and lifelong colloboration with
Georg Jensen as early as 1906, only two years after the Silversmithy
started production.

The interplay between Georg Jensen's sensitive artistic mind and
Johan Rohde's architectural clarity strongly influenced the distinctive
Danish "silver style" of the times.
