A Victorian Samson Mordan scent bottle London
A rare Samson Mordan scent bottle in the form of a Worcester blue willow pattern plate (Registration no. 29260) with silver screw top. The china is undamaged and the screw top is in good order. The hallmarks are somewhat rubbed, but S.M. for Samson Mordan is clearly visible as is the leopard’s head for London. The date letter is indistinct. The top of the shield shaped mark is visible dating it to the late Victorian period. Excellent condition with no dents or damage to the silver.
An identical example is photographed in colour on page 251 of the Millers Silver Guide giving a date of 1885 – 1886 and a guide price of £650 - £750.
